THE REAL STRENGHT

Our lives are full of critical moments; instances that due to their intensity weight us down and exhaust us, as if they lasted for hours.
This fatighe isn´t imaginary – it results from the electrical discharge in the body, as a signal of danger. But the danger can be literal, in wich case a quick response is crucial, or it can be figurative and in that case what is really in danger? Our values, beliefs, integrity, image…? Aren’t we the only one capable of changing them?
Then what is the matter with our body that is so vigilant and already poised to defend us? And what a sad joke is that the best defence is the attack.
Breathing becames shallow, trembling hands seek to claim their own free will, and the heart beats wildly but only to leap out of our chest.
In this moments of anxiety and anger we reach out for our inner strenght, to hold on into the remnants of peace amidst this chaos.
Because the attack may bring victory, but it comes with the bitter taste of destruction. We may scream “I hate you” to the love of our life. Yet what we truly hate  is the distance forming in between.
That’s why the true strenght comes from within. We call it self-control.
